Harry Patrinos: “The new project will contribute to the development of human capital in Georgia”

“I am pleased that we are launching a new project in cooperation with Georgia, which will contribute to increasing the quality of education, modernizing the higher education system, and developing human capital in general. By financing this project, we are assisting the Government of Georgia in implementing reforms at all levels of education,” – stated World Bank Global Education Manager Harry Patrinos today at the presentation of the new project “Innovation, Inclusive Education and Quality.”
The $102.7 million project, aimed at developing human capital in Georgia, includes five main components: promoting preschool education and increasing its accessibility; improving the quality of teaching; improving the higher education funding model and aligning it with international standards; strengthening the system and improving communication among stakeholders; and improving project management, monitoring, and evaluation systems.
Over the next six years, the infrastructure component of the project will ensure the construction of five new schools, the rehabilitation of approximately 60 existing schools, as well as the introduction of more than 150 child-centered and modern preschool education programs for school preparation. Overall, the project will benefit approximately 116,000 preschool and general education school students.
