Dates and rules for conducting the Unified National Examinations, Magistrate Exams and Student Grant Competition have been set

To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, and to ensure the maximum protection of  participants during the examination, while conducting the process in a full, coordinated manner, exam dates and rules have been set for Unified National Examinations, Magistrate Exams and Student Grant Competition by the Intergovernmental Council led by the Prime Minister.

The Unified National Examinations 2020 will begin on July 6 and end on July 25. The grant competition will take place on July 25, whereas the Magistrate exams will be held from August 1 to August 4.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia has been actively working with the National Center for Assessment and Examinations and other relevant agencies since the first day of the announcement of the Coronavirus pandemic to fully guide the 2020 exam process. A special organizing committee was set up, comprising of: the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Tbilisi City Hall, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Justice; JSC "Telasi" and JSC "Energo-Pro Georgia". The agencies work within the scope of their competence on various issues related to the examination process.

According to the recommendations of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, examiners and supervisors will be admitted to only 50% of the room capacity. No more than 10 examinations will be allowed in each sector of the examination centers this year. Each desk will be equipped with a transparent protective shield on the surface; The distance between the tables will be 2 meters, whilst being set up one meter apart from each other lengthwise.

Moreover, the National Center for Assessment and Examinations will offer each participant a facemask (if desired, the student can bring their own mask). Applicants will undergo thermal screening at the entrance of the examination center.

Examiners should be guided by the regulations strictly defined by the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health:

- To maintain social distance as much as possible

- To constantly wear facemasks

- To treat their hands with a disinfectant solution placed on each table when instructed to do so

- To have an identity document and an examination card on person

In addition to this list, it is not recommended to bring other personal items in order to minimize the risk of transmitting / spreading the disease from the items. The National Center for Assessment and Examinations asks test takers to follow these recommendations as well.

In case the rules are violated, the entrant will receive a warning. If the violation persists, the person will be removed from the examination.

Due to security measures, the examination areas will be cooled with air conditioning only before the session and will be switched off before entering the exam hall. During the period between the sessions, special disinfection works will be carried out on the spot.

The National Center for Disease Control and Public Health also developed conditions for safe handling of exam papers received from examination centers, as well as ways to properly sanitize the rooms, toilets, and faculty rooms. The National Center for Assessment and Examinations once again reminds those wishing to take the exam that the changes and special circumstances only applies to the rules for taking the exams and not to their format or content. As in previous years, the examination centers will function in the following cities: Tbilisi, Rustavi, Gori, Akhaltsikhe, Telavi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Zugdidi, Poti, Ozurgeti and Khulo.

Furthermore, specially designated medical and police points will operate during the entire process. The exam process will be recorded with video cameras.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia will inform the public about the teacher competence exam in the coming days.
