Registration for externship examinations has begun
The dates for registration and examinations have been determined for those wishing to complete the curriculum for grades I-XII and specific subjects in the form of externship.
In accordance with the order of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, interested individuals will have the opportunity to register for the exams from October 4, 2021, to October 8, 2021, inclusive, and the exams will be held from October 15 to October 29, inclusive.
A person has the right to take the exam if their age corresponds to or exceeds the age group of students in the grade to be completed through externship, and they have successfully completed the educational program of the preceding grade.
To receive education in the form of externship, an interested adult or the legal representative of an interested minor shall submit an application for registration as an extern, along with the required documentation, to the Resource Center within the established registration deadlines in accordance with the following rules:
- In the event that the person wishing to receive general education in the form of externship is studying at a school – the application is accepted by the Resource Center within whose operational jurisdiction the respective school is located;
- If the person is not studying at a school – the application is accepted by any Resource Center, in accordance with the person's preference.
List of required documents to be submitted to the Resource Center for the purpose of registration for the exams:
a) An application by an interested adult or the legal representative of an interested minor wishing to receive education in the form of externship, which must include the following information:
- The first name, last name, and contact information of the person wishing to receive education in the form of externship (address, telephone number, e-mail address);
- The individual grade(s)/semester(s) of general education, as well as the subject(s) included in the individual grade/semester, which the person wishes to complete in the form of externship;
- The language in which the person wishing to receive education in the form of externship wishes to take the externship exam (Georgian, Russian, Azerbaijani, Armenian);
- The foreign language(s) in which the person wishing to receive education in the form of externship is to be tested, if applicable;
- The elective subject provided by the National Curriculum that the person wishing to complete general education through externship wishes to take;
b) A copy of the birth certificate or identity document of the person wishing to receive education in the form of externship;
c) In case of registration for the exam to complete an individual grade(s)/semester(s) of general education in the form of externship, a document confirming that the person has mastered the general educational program of the grade/semester that precedes the grade/semester to be completed through externship;
d) In the event that the person received education abroad, a document confirming the completion of the relevant educational program, which must be recognized in accordance with the procedure established by law;
e) In case of registration for the exam to complete a subject(s) included in an individual grade/semester of the secondary educational stage in the form of externship, a certificate issued by the school confirming that the person must complete the general educational program of the subject(s) included in the individual grade/semester of the secondary stage of general education in the form of externship.
For the purpose of preventing the spread of the new coronavirus in the country:
Certificates regarding the completion of the preceding grade shall be issued by general educational institutions in accordance with the school's record-keeping rules – both physically and remotely, based on an application sent by the person wishing to register as an extern/their legal representative to the school's email address (see e-mail addresses of private schools).
A person wishing to register as an extern / their legal representative has the right to electronically send applications along with attached documents to educational resource centers, or, in accordance with the procedure established by the resource center and observing safety standards, physically submit them to a representative of the resource center. The resource center shall confirm receipt of the application and documentation to the applicant via email within a 2-day period. In the event of discovering a deficiency, the applicant shall be notified immediately. Within 5 days after the expiration of the extern registration deadline, the resource center shall make a decision on registering the person as an extern or refusing registration (see e-mail addresses of educational resource centers and general educational institutions).
