The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkin, personally handed over school textbooks to one of the socially vulnerable, multi-child families.
According to the Minister, in order to ensure equal learning conditions for all students, the state provides school textbooks to students from socially vulnerable families.
Four of the five children from the Mtsituridze family study at Tbilisi Public School โ45 and excel not only in their studies but are also engaged in sports. Two of the brothers are members of the Georgian youth national team and multiple wrestling champions, while two girls practice gymnastics at the Olympic Reserve School.
According to the parents, it is very important that the Government of Georgia cares for low-income families, as receiving books free of charge is a significant relief for the family.
Last year, textbooks were distributed from the first to the twelfth grade to all students whose rating score was 57,000. In the 2011-2012 academic year, textbooks will be provided to students of grades I-VI whose rating score is 70,000, while students of grades VII-XII will receive textbooks as a gift from the state if their rating score is 57,000.
In the future, the textbooks will remain in school libraries so that other children will also be able to use them.
