Government’s action plan’s presentation

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini, introduced to Georgian public school teachers and schoolchildren the Georgian Government’s ten-section educational plan. At the meeting, Mr. Dimitri Shashkini mentioned that one part of the plan, which is the main aim of the government, is to offer the best standards of education to Georgian society. 

The Minister also talked about projects implemented for the encouragement of schoolchildren; every student who finishes the 10^th form with high grades will receive computers as rewards. Students who win academic Olympiads will have the opportunity to attend summer camps and students who graduate from school successfully will study in the world’s leading universities.

The Minister implements many various types of projects: CAT exams; teacher’s certification process(which will continue from 2012 to 2014); new curriculum plans; the 12^th form “Abituri” hour; English language lessons from first form; e-strategy; and more.

Georgian schools’ recently implemented safety school program and the teaching of English language teachers from English speaking countries will continue throughout 2015. Also, all first form schoolchildren receive new computers at school.

Great attention is paid to vocational education and professional training, which are popular for the labor market. A new technological university is being created in Batumi, where the main courses of study will be engineering, information technology, and agriculture.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister held a question-and-answer session with the schoolchildren and their parents.
