Implementation of the project "Student Employment Program for Summer Vacations" has begun
First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Shota Nijaradze and Deputy Minister Nodar Surguladze met with students employed at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University today and familiarized themselves with their work.
The university has employed a total of around 500 undergraduate students. Over the course of a month, the students will create electronic versions of unique books and scientific papers preserved in the library.
Today, the Deputy Ministers also saw off 20 students employed in archaeological excavations in the village of Melaani, Gurjaani District. Based on the material retrieved during the work, scientists hypothesize the discovery of a place of worship dating back to the 1st century BC. Damaged by heavy rain, this complex urgently requires the resumption of work.
Students have been employed in up to seventy fields โ state institutions, the business and non-governmental sectors, law firms, museums, hospitals, self-government bodies, etc. State agencies and the private sector are involved in the presidential project.
The "Summer Job" project is designed to enable students to enhance their qualifications and gain experience in the field in which they wish to be employed in the future. Additionally, the earned remuneration allows them to finance their own studies or use it for education, travel, recreation, etc.
Initiated by the President of Georgia, the "Summer Job" student summer employment program was launched across the entire territory of Georgia during the summer vacation period on July 20, 2012, and will run until August 20. Undergraduate students from authorized universities in Georgia participate in it, and their salary amounts to 500 GEL.
