Statement of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia

Attacks by the leaders of the political coalition "Georgian Dream" on representatives of the education system are ongoing. They are intimidating both teachers and principals. In the event of coming to power, the party leader himself threatens educators with punishment and arrest.
On September 7, 2012, another incident of threats against a school principal occurred at the public school in the village of Badiauri, Sagarejo Municipality. Specifically, Tina Khidasheli, one of the leaders of "Georgian Dream," used the territory of the public school for pre-election agitation. At the same time, she involved underage students in the rally. This fact became known to the school principal, who quite rightfully asked the political party representative to leave the premises of the educational institution. However, unlike other participants in the rally, Khidasheli reacted sharply to the school principal's instruction and threatened the general education institution's director with liability.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia declares that pressure on individuals who serve the educational system and directly care for the dignified upbringing of the future generation is unacceptable, and calls upon political organizations to refrain from unfounded accusations and threats.
