The President opened new schools in the Kakheti region

The 2012-2013 academic year has begun in 2,082 public schools across Georgia. For the new academic year, several new schools were built throughout Georgia, and hundreds of schools underwent rehabilitation. Today, the President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, opened two new schools in the villages of Erisimedi and Shibliani in the Kakheti region.
For 25 years, nearly 100 teenagers in the village of Erisimedi studied in a non-standard, dilapidated building originally intended for a kindergarten. This major problem for the village population has been resolved with the construction of the new school. The European-standard school features a modern heating system and its own water well. The school is also equipped with an independent power source, which guarantees uninterrupted internet access for the students. The school is furnished with modern school desks, boards, and new computers, and it features an open sports ground with an artificial turf.
In the village of Shibliani, Sagarejo district, the old, dilapidated school building went out of service 5 years ago, and during this time, nearly 50 students of the village studied in an old, uncomfortable former administration building. From now on, the students of this village will study in a new, modernly equipped school. The school has a modern heating system, a library, a computer lab, an assembly hall, and is designed for 130 students.
For the 2012-2013 academic year, new schools were built in the villages of Chibati and Kvabgha in the Guria region, the village of Salkhino in the Samegrelo region, the villages of Nijgora and Mirashkhani in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, a new academic building was constructed for Akhaltsikhe Public School No. 5, and the students of Akhalkalaki Public School No. 3 are also continuing their studies in a new building.
Improving school infrastructure and building schools of modern standards is one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The Ministry's goal is to ensure that every student, regardless of where they study, receives a quality education in a modern and well-equipped environment.
Annually, dozens of schools with modern design and infrastructure are built across Georgia, almost all schools have been rehabilitated, and schools are provided with heating and lighting systems. The new schools are equipped with modern amenities. Sports halls of international standards, libraries, information technology rooms, and science laboratories operate within the schools.
