New Examination Model 8+1
A presentation of the new 8+1 examination model was held at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The new unified examination program covers two levels simultaneously: those receiving a school leaving certificate and university entrants (abiturients).
Main innovations:
- Graduating class students are required to take exams in 8 subjects;
- To participate in the university entrance competition, students choose bachelor's degree programs at their discretion and additionally take the general skills exam;
- Students will take the exams by means of computers;
- Writing tasks for Georgian and foreign languages will be performed on paper;
- A listening component will be added to the foreign language examination format;
- The Unified National Examinations will begin after the completion of the educational process in schools;
- At the end of September, the examination programs will be published on the official website of the National Assessment and Examinations Center;
- At the end of October, a reference guide on universities and academic programs will be published;
- Starting from the second semester, the subject "Information and Communication Technologies" will be added to preparation hours (abituris saatebi) in schools, and students will practice the new test format on computers;
- Students will register at schools within one month starting from early March;
- Abiturients will register independently and will have the opportunity to make 20 preferred choices.
Work on details related to the examinations is ongoing. Representatives of the Ministry and the National Assessment and Examinations Center will regularly meet with students and their teachers to personally introduce them to the new examination model, while complete and all necessary information will be posted on the official website and Facebook page of the National Assessment and Examinations Center.
