Presentation of the Preschool Education Manual Held
For the first time in Georgia, a book for parents and educators entitled "Games and Activities for Preschool Children" has been published. Today, a presentation of the guide was held at the Ministry of Education and Science.
The book provides advice and games to support the multifaceted development of preschool-aged children. The recommendations are based on early learning and development standards. This publication will help parents and educators of preschool children better plan developmental and engaging activities and games for children, both in kindergarten and at home.
The book for parents and educators will be distributed free of charge to all municipal kindergartens across Georgia, and its electronic version will be available on the e-library website of the Ministry of Education and Science at www.elibrary.emis.ge.
During the presentation of the book, a television social advertising spot created to raise public awareness was also screened.
For the past four years, the Department of National Curriculums and General Education Development of the Ministry has been implementing several projects in the field of preschool education with the facilitation and financial support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
Within the framework of the projects, with the aim of increasing parental involvement in preschool education, parent centers have been established in 11 municipalities; 562 educators have upgraded their qualifications in 13 municipalities of Georgia, having received training from university professors and academic staff; 8 preschool education centers for ethnic minorities have been established in 6 municipalities; and a Preschool Education Week was held in June 2012.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia will continue to work in the future towards supporting preschool education as one of the crucial links in lifelong learning.
