The signatories to the memorandum of understanding are: the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia, the Emergency Management Department of the Special and Emergency Measures Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, and the non-governmental organizations "Save the Children" and "Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund".
The memorandum of understanding was concluded within the framework of the project "Disaster Risk Reduction (DDR) in Georgian Kindergartens and Institutions" and defines the terms of partnership and cooperation between the parties. The aforementioned project is implemented by the organizations "Save the Children" and "Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund" (hereinafter referred to as "ASB") and is funded by the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department Disaster Preparedness ECHO (DG ECHO) within the framework of the program "Disaster Risk Reduction in Vulnerable Communities and Institutions of the South Caucasus" (DIPECHO II Phase).
The project envisions raising awareness on disaster risk reduction among kindergarten staff in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, as well as training them in accordance with interactive teaching and pedagogical methods. These pedagogical and educational programs will ensure the safe behavior of preschool children during natural risks and emergency situations.
