Construction of a new school is underway in the Tetritskaro Municipality
A new school is being built in the village of Samghereti, Tetritskaro District. Today, Tamar Sanikidze, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, met with school representatives and builders to personally inspect the ongoing construction process.
The public school of the village of Samghereti was built in the 1940s. The school lacked a sufficient number of classrooms, and the building itself was dilapidated and beyond capital repair. At the end of last year, the old building was demolished and the construction of a new school began.
The school is currently temporarily housed in a private residence, and the educational process is proceeding without interruption. The village of Samghereti is populated by eco-migrants from Adjara; accordingly, the school is Georgian-language and has up to 100 students. Of these, 12 commute from the administratively annexed Shikhilo Azerbaijani Primary School, and since February 2013, they have been served by a minibus assigned by the Ministry. In the Tetritskaro District, minibuses serve 11 other public schools.
The demographic situation in the village is growing; therefore, the new school is designed for 150 students. The school will feature a modern heating system, natural science and information technology laboratories equipped with modern school desks, blackboards, and new computers. In this school meeting modern standards, all conditions will be created for students to receive an education as complete as possible in any European country. Construction will be completed in December 2014.
