An exhibition was held in connection with Children's Day
Organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia on June 1, in connection with International Children's Day, an exhibition of works by school students with special educational needs and students of vocational institutions was held at the "Chardeni" gallery.
The exhibition featured paintings, photographs, handicrafts, and resources created by the Ministry in the direction of inclusive education – textbooks printed in Braille, the alphabet, teacher guides, books in the Georgian language and mathematics for hearing-impaired students, and a sign language textbook, as well as extracurricular reading literature for blind children.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia recognizes that receiving an education is a fundamental right of every person and aims to ensure that the educational needs of every child are maximally reflected in the planning and implementation of national educational policy.
In this direction, the Ministry of Education has introduced a number of fundamental innovations. Currently, integrated classes have been opened in two schools, which implies the existence of a special class within the public school space. Additionally, a new funding system has been created, which entails the presence of special teachers and psychologists in public schools. In 2013, textbooks printed in Braille for blind school students were published for the first time, and the Georgian language alphabet for first-graders was created. It is planned to open two more integrated classes, expand the multidisciplinary team, and raise the qualifications of teachers.
