The final event of the "Cinema at School" project was held
The Georgian National Film Center, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, implemented the project "Cinema at School". The project aimed to develop analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as aesthetic perception among adolescents through the popularization of cinema art.
Within the framework of the project, students had the opportunity to watch films selected by age categories together with professional film critics, learn the specifics of screenwriting, and write mini-scripts themselves. The project started on March 17, 2014, and concluded at the end of the 2013-2014 academic year.
The project involved 40 schools (Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Imereti, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Adjara), where film clubs were established. The schools were selected based on the review of motivation letters submitted by them. The target group consisted of public school students from grades IX-XI. Over a period of three months, 480 film screenings were held in 40 schools across 5 regions of Georgia, attended by up to 5,000 students. Today, the closing event of the project was held at the Gori Culture Center, during which:
- Special certificates were awarded to the schools involved in the project and the children participating in it;
- Information was announced regarding the summer season of the project – the project will continue its activities through volunteers;
- Gifts were awarded to the authors of the 3 best scripts created during the project;
- A screening of the new Georgian film "In Bloom" ("Grzeli Nateli Dgeebi") was held, followed by a discussion with the creative team.
The closing event of the "Cinema at School" project was attended by: Lia Gigauri, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia; Nana Dgebuadze, Director of the National Film Center; representatives of the Ministries of Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs; and students from the schools participating in the project.
