The National Centre of Manuscripts celebrated its anniversary
The National Centre of Manuscripts of the Ministry is the primary institution in Georgia that protects and studies our country's manuscript heritage. One of Georgia's most prominent repositories of antiquities, a scientific and cultural institution, and a leading hub for Kartvelological studies was founded in 1958 on the initiative of Ilia Abuladze.
The unique collection of the National Centre of Manuscripts of the Ministry is virtually the historical memory of our entire country. It preserves ancient Georgian and foreign manuscript books, historical documents, works of prominent Georgian figures, autographs, personal archives, and a complete collection of the first Georgian printed books.
The event was attended by Tamar Sanikidze, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Konstantine Surguladze, State Minister for Diaspora Issues, Kote Kublashvili, Chairperson of the Supreme Court, other public figures, and representatives of partner organizations. The invited guests viewed an exhibition reflecting joint projects, met with the Centre's staff, and familiarized themselves with their activities. Here, Tamar Sanikidze spoke about important infrastructural projects planned by the Ministry of Education and Science and noted that the Ministry is launching design works for a new, modernly equipped building for the National Centre of Manuscripts.
