Summary Conference of the "School-Based Teacher Professional Development" Program Held
The summary conference for the National Center for Teacher Professional Development of the Ministry's program, “Teacher Professional Development at the School Level“, was held. The project was implemented for the first time this year, involving teachers from 206 public schools across all regions of Georgia.
Educators involved in the pilot phase of the program presented the report and results of the 2013-2014 academic year, detailing what this program provided to the professional development group, each individual teacher, and the school as a whole. They discussed how it impacted professional relationships, whether it contributed to their professional development and the improvement of teaching quality. In addition, successful experiences were shared at the conference.
At the beginning of the 2013-2014 academic year, seven-member professional development groups were established in 206 pilot schools across the country. The educators were selected by the schools from various subject departments. It is planned to increase the number of schools participating in the program and, for this purpose, to activate "school networks". Starting next year, more schools will have the opportunity to participate in the school-based professional development program.
