An informational meeting related to the vocational education system reform was held at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia with representatives of civil society, which was opened by Ketevan Natriashvili, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia.
According to the First Deputy Minister, for the development of the vocational education system, not only the involvement of the private sector and trade unions is essential, but also the very active participation of civil society. Therefore, with the aim of sharing information, the Ministry of Education and Science organizes regular meetings with civil society. At today's meeting, the attending organizations received information regarding the implementation of the vocational education strategy and became acquainted with the projects and initiatives planned in this field.
At the meeting, Tamar Kitiashvili, Head of the Vocational Education Development Department of the Ministry, presented the Vocational Education Reform Strategy (2013-2020) and spoke extensively about the projects already implemented.
The meeting was attended by Oliver Reisner, representative of the European Union to Georgia, who provided civil society with information regarding the planned activities supported by the financial agreement document "Employment and Vocational Education" signed between the Government of Georgia and the European Union. According to Oliver Reisner - Non-governmental organizations working in the field of vocational education received information on the progress of the vocational education strategy and the EU's support for this reform, which is very important for them. In order for them to actively engage in the implementation of the reform with their ideas, activities, or experience, a new grant competition is being prepared within the framework of the reform. It is also important that the project envisages the involvement of the entire region of Georgia. The reform will truly be results-oriented, which implies employment and the improvement of the quality of vocational education.
It was noted at the meeting that the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia welcomes the involvement of civil society in the process of vocational education development in Georgia and is ready for close cooperation with them.
