There are 5 public schools operating in the Pankisi Valley with up to 1,300 students and 120 teachers. Instruction in the schools, where ethnic Kists and Chechens study, is conducted in the Georgian language, and a Russian sector operates in one school. 4 schools are involved in the "School Accessibility Sub-program" and, accordingly, the students of these schools benefit from transportation services. Three schools in the valley have undergone partial rehabilitation, two schools are fully rehabilitated, the schools are equipped with new inventory, and all public schools are provided with internet services.
School life in the Pankisi Valley is just as full-fledged as in any city or village school in Georgia. Pankisi students participate in various programs and competitions organized by the Ministry, and also successfully participate in the Unified National Examinations. Two out of the five schools have certified directors. Teachers also participate in certification exams and undergo trainings organized by the Teacher House both in Tbilisi and locally.
