New retraining programs will be launched within the framework of the education reform
Within the framework of the education reform, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia is launching a new project in cooperation with the private sector. The new initiative was presented by Mikheil Batiashvili to representatives of small, medium, and large businesses, who, in turn, expressed their readiness to support the new initiative in order to develop a qualified workforce in the country.
By decision of the Minister, through the mutual cooperation of the Ministry and the private sector, a new adult education system will be introduced, aiming to implement short-term training and retraining programs.
Given that the rapid pace of labor market development poses numerous challenges to the economically active population in terms of skills alignment, according to the Minister, within the framework of the new law and initiative, the Ministry plans to operationalize mechanisms that will help the population improve the skills necessary for employment in a short period of time.
As a result of the formalization of training and retraining courses:
- Graduates will be issued a state-recognized certificate;
- In order to develop the adult education system, private companies will also be able to obtain the right to implement short-term programs;
- The state will finance priority areas recognized as sectors with high employment potential;
- Programs will be implemented in a practical learning format (work-based learning);
At the meeting, which was attended by private business employers from the construction, service, information technology, and other sectors, an agreement was reached on a format of close cooperation with the Ministry and systematic meetings regarding future plans.
Registration of trainees in the Adjara and Samegrelo regions, as well as in Tbilisi, will begin on March 25 with programs in construction and information technologies, where there are more than 400 vacant slots available.
