Students will receive financial education
Future perspectives for the development of the National Strategy for Financial Education and its action plan were discussed at the National Bank of Georgia. Natia Zedginidze, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, participated in the meeting as a committee member.
The development of the action plan has been actively underway over the past few months, during which meetings and consultations were held with each committee member. The action plan serves the effective implementation of the Financial Education Strategy, as it outlines the priority measures of financial education that are carried out under the coordination of the National Bank, with the involvement of committee members and other stakeholders.
At the 4th meeting of the Financial Education Strategy Steering Committee, the members discussed issues such as the 2018-2020 Action Plan of the Financial Education Strategy, the guidelines for monitoring and evaluation of financial education programs, financial education projects, learning materials, and the framework of core competencies for financial education.
It is noteworthy that, in cooperation with the National Bank, a curriculum has already been developed according to which, starting from the new academic year, lower secondary level students will study the financial education component within the framework of civic education, which covers all key and important financial issues for students.
Learning financial education from an early age will help young people develop knowledge and skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. The need to provide financial education from an early age is also supported by international experience.
