"EURAXESS Georgia" โ The EURAXESS Representation is Being Established in Georgia
Following Georgia's accession to the European Union's research and innovation organization, the "EURAXESS" representation โ "EURAXESS Georgia" โ is being established, which will facilitate Georgia's closer integration into the European Union's research area and expand international cooperation among the country's universities and research institutions.
Starting from February 2020, the Georgian flag will appear on the "EURAXESS" platform, under which information regarding ongoing projects and competitions of Georgian higher education institutions and scientific-research institutes will be hosted. Georgian scientists will also have direct access to the research funds and multi-million-dollar research projects of more than 40 EURAXESS member countries, including the "Horizon 2020" program and its sub-programs. A grant of โฌ200,000 has been allocated by the European Commission for integration into the platform.
Furthermore, Georgian scientists will have the opportunity to get involved in the development of the "Horizon Europe" scientific policy, which will improve the results and quality of their research in the future.
Information on the "EURAXESS Georgia" portal will be available in Georgian, English, and Abkhazian languages. Accordingly, Abkhaz scientists will be able to participate in large-scale international projects on behalf of Georgia.
Georgia officially became a member of EURAXESS, the intergovernmental organization for research and innovation of the European Union, on September 24 of this year. The relevant document was signed in Brussels by Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia; Zviad Gabisonia, Director of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia; and Patrick Child, Deputy Director-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission.
