Mikheil Batiashvili: "To implement the comprehensive education reform, the Ministry has attracted 600 million GEL from international donor organizations"

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mikheil Batiashvili, and the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, Carl Hartzell, officially opened the second phase of the "Education for Employment" (Skills4Jobs) program, where the current situation, challenges, and prospects regarding labor market alignment in the field of vocational education in Georgia were discussed.
Mikheil Batiashvili thanked the international donor organizations and partners who cooperate closely with the Ministry in the process of implementing the reform.
"In order to implement the comprehensive education reform, the Ministry has attracted 650 million GEL from international donor organizations over the past year. In this regard, today is also special because, within the framework of the 'Employment and Vocational Education and Training' Phase II project, the European Union and the Government of Georgia are launching a new five-year program with a budget of 48.85 million euros (approximately 156 million GEL). It is of utmost importance that the project aims to match relevant skills and vocational education, training, services in the field of entrepreneurship, and educational opportunities throughout Georgia, including for youth, women, and vulnerable groups," stated Mikheil Batiashvili.
