Presentation of the book "Known and Unknown Kazbegi"
On November 1, at 19:00, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (Address: 4 Sanapiro St.) hosted the presentation of Alexander Kazbegi's collection of works entitled "Known and Unknown Kazbegi". The collection was compiled by Elisabed Zardiashvili and Nana Lataria. The presentation was led by Nana Dolidze, Head of the Culture Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport; Irma Ratiani, editor of the book and Director of the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature; Maka Elbakidze, project manager and Deputy Director of the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature; and Zaza Abzianidze, principal researcher at the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature, literary critic and writer.
The collection of works, prepared by the Georgian Association of Comparative Literature in cooperation with the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature, was published with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia. It brings together both unknown and forgotten works by Alexander Kazbegi.
Despite the fact that numerous researchers have published works on the writer's life and creative output, Alexander Kazbegi remains one of the least studied writers among Georgian classics. During his lifetime and after his death, his works were published several times; however, none of the collections are complete. Various archives in Georgia preserve many unpublished works by the writer, specifically about two dozen unfinished stories, as many completed and uncompleted plays, poems, personal letters, play outlines, and notebooks.
