"Eternal Rome: 2,000 Years of Sculpture, Between Ancient Art and Neoclassicism"

The exhibition โEternal Rome. Masterpieces of Roman Sculpture from the Dino and Ernesta Santarelli Foundationโ has opened at the Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery. Levan Kharatishvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, attended the event.
From December 11, 2019, to February 29, 2020, the Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery will showcase 33 sculptural works that illustrate the stages of artistic and stylistic development of sculpture from the Roman Republic era to the neo-classical period. Visitors to the exhibition will explore nearly two thousand years of sculptural history through Roman faces carved in marble, alabaster, and porphyry, as well as characters from classical mythology and principal figures of Christianity.
The exposition โEternal Rome. Masterpieces of Roman Sculpture from the Dino and Ernesta Santarelli Foundationโ is part of the "Vivere ALLโitaliana" program and serves as a continuation of Italian exhibitions held in Georgia over the past two years.
This exhibition is the result of close cooperation between the institutions of the two countries. On the Georgian side: the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and the Georgian National Museum; and on the Italian side: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, the Embassy of Italy in Tbilisi, and the โDino and Ernesta Santarelli Foundationโ. The exhibitions were prepared in cooperation with the Italian company Glocal Project Consulting.
