New Year Gifts for Tirdznisi Students
Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkin congratulated the students of the Tirdznisi Public School, who were released from captivity, on the upcoming Christmas and New Year and presented them with gifts. The Minister awarded personal computers to Giorgi Romelashvili, Aliko Tsabadze, Viktor Buchukuri, and Levan Khmiadashvili, while about 40 first-graders of the same school were presented with New Year sweets.
Two ninth-grade students of the Tirdznisi Public School of the Gori district, Giorgi Romelashvili and Aliko Tsabadze, were held in captivity by Russian occupiers for 34 days, while tenth-grader Viktor Buchukuri and twelfth-grader Levan Khmiadashvili were held for 46 days.
Dimitri Shashkin also congratulated the teachers of the Tirdznisi Public School on the upcoming New Year and wished them success in their activities.
During the Russia-Georgia war, the occupiers set fire to the Tirdznisi Public School. As a result of the fire, several classrooms burned down, but through the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Science, restoration work was carried out, and the school was equipped with new modern technology.
The Tirdznisi Public School, which has up to 500 students, had already been destroyed by fire once before; in 2007, it was rebuilt within the framework of the President's National Megaprogram, on which nearly 3,000,000 GEL was spent.
